Just a quick update today...

I've been messing around with paper clay today.

This... could be awesome!

(or it could fail miserably... but I'm going to be optimistic)

Oh Tonner...

A long while ago I bought a Harry and Ron Tonner doll, and have been attempting to repaint them.

HOLY COW it's hard!!! You have to do about a million subtle washes of color and then hope you did ok.

Here was my first attempt at Ron (scary, I know)... I painted Harry too... then when I was sealing him, the sealer flubbed and ruined it all... and I got angry and put them away! (I know, not particularly mature)

But with Halloween on the Horizon, I kind of want to pull them out and try again.

A thank you and a new bag!

Click on the pictures to make them larger :)

First off, Thank You!!!! to KnittingTurnip for her LOVELY PIF Giveaway prize!! Here are some pictures of the little cutie she sent me!

Next, my Mom sews purses... more to the point, she sews bags for other people, lickity split, but if one of her kids wants one, we have to hound her and hound her and wait for months and months.

So, after months of waiting, and repeated asking "Is it done yet?! Is it done yet?!" She finally finished my purse... and I LOVE IT!!!!

I chose all the fabrics, except the base fabric... which is evidentally Hand-dyed Ricky Tims fabric that she had laying around for ages!

The inside is lined with little pockets and it has a solid bottom... and in general, is just a very useful purse!! Have I mentioned I love it?

Now for some random "What's in/on Heather's purse?" items :)

What's that dangling from my purse?! It's a hand sculpted little leather dog!! SO CUTE!

And also Skelanimal bat that I ran out and purchased after reading Kelly's (Yesterday's Glitter) post about them. I bought the little bat... PERFECT for Halloween!

Inside my purse you'll find a change purse I bought directly after seeing Ponyo... which, btw, is the most disgustingly cute, feel-good, adorable movie I've seen in a while.

And... girls... if you don't want the boys stealing your Nintendo DS... just make it look like this:

So, THANK YOU, KnittingTurnip... and THANK YOU, Mom!!!!!

Woodland Creatures Everywhere!

As mentioned before, I've recently found ACEO cards (or ATC cards, depending on who you're talking to) and... at the same time, I had joined a "Fall Swap" in which the goal is to... wait for it... wait for it....

Swap fall items. XD

Well, as part of my swap, along with one (or several) plushies that I'll be making/have made, I am also making the person ACEO cards from a list of favorite animals that they gave me.

I think I'll probably end up printing them a digital version... and possibly framing it, if I can find a frame that looks ok.

Until then, here are the first 3 that I've done :) You can click on the image to make it bigger!

Wiket?

Well... here's my latest work in progress... made from my first original bear pattern... he looks...

LIKE AN EWOK!

I've had him on my desk at work and several people have come in and said "Oh! Where'd you get the Ewok?!"

So, maybe he's just a bear who is a really big Star Wars fan? Maybe I was influenced by watching Fan Boys? Who knows.

He's not done yet, as you can see, his nose is only drawn on at the moment... and I'll probably do more shading and trimming... maybe. (He's awfully cute super fuzzy... I'm tempted to watch Star Wars and make him an Ewok outfit)

Needless to say, though, this little guy's name is Wiket. He has embraced his Ewok-dom.

Hi! I'm Wiket, the NOT-Ewok.
Isn't the moon beautiful tonight?

Wait a minute...

That's not a moon! It's a SPACESTATION!!!!

Cake Wrecks!

Ok, this is a blog of professional cake decorating gone horribly wrong!!

If there's anything 'naughty' they block it out with black bars, so it's entirely work safe... although, really, there isn't really anything bad... just HILARIOUS!

They showcase really well made cakes too... so you get the good, the bad, and the REALLY ugly!

If you want a really good laugh, go check it out... and make sure you read their captions.

Just click on the image to go to their site:

A busy day!

I also wanted to share two new artworks, one stuffed, one illustrated!

Ok, the illustrated one first, it's my first scribbling on an ACEO card:

Next is Pumpkin, he's quite the little character!

He can hang upside down...

He can show you his wings!

He can hide from you...

Or not!

He isn't shy...

But sometimes he's confused.

He can sit up...

Or stand up...

But sometimes he falls down!

What is there to do... but get back up again!!

Halloween Giveaway at The Mare's Tale

Here is a lovely artist having a lovely give-away... Halloween Bling!

Click the image to be taken to the giveaway!

You don't even have to follow to enter:

Halloween Party in Blogland! and a giveaway!!!

This idea is just too much fun... I LOVE IT! Click on the image below to find out how to participate... or click the link in my sidebar, either way, they go to the same place! :)

Also, if you like old things... old... rusty things... old... rusty antiquish things... then you will love this! (I do!) Here is a giveaway for an old primitive scale... so much possibility!!! Click the image to find out more!

Well, this has just turned into info dump Tuesday!

Here's some fun (and sometimes disturbing) artwork... click on the image to go to the site!
(there isn't anything that isn't work safe... just some of the concepts are disturbing... and usually play off of old fairytales)

And finally, here is something just really cool... ever heard of an Exquisite Corpse? No, it's not something disgusting, it's a game of storytelling... and some major YA authors are getting together with some fantastic illustrators and holding one... click on the image to find out more, then click on the "read more"s to read the story!

Art Every Day Month

Evidentally, here in blogland, November is A.E.D.M, or, Art Every Day Month.

You can click on the image above to take you to the site where it is explained in full!

The goal is to create or work on some sort of art every day... and then document it here in your blog!

I will definitely be participating!!!

(on a side note, it's also NaNoWriMo, or, National Novel Writing Month (in which you are supposed to write a novel, in a month)... those of you who are truly daring can try both!)

I am also going to participate in Creative Every Day... which gives you a "theme" for the month as inspiration... mostly these are just boosts to get more artwork done... and since I just started "craft day" once a week with a friend... well, I figure this is the perfect opportunity!

The link for both of these is in my sidebar :) Enjoy!

I also recently just found out about ACEOs, or "Art Cards, Editions and Originals"
Evidentally this has become quite the trend... the rules are that they have to be trading card size (3.5 X 2.5 inches) and that you make them with the intent to trade (although I see a lot of people selling them now, I'm pretty sure the original intent was for artists to trade small samples of their work)

Here is a link to a site that talks about them:
http://creativeeveryday.com/creative-every-day-challenge

I think I might have to make a couple of these as well!!

Finally (maybe, I just keep adding on to this post!) here is a weekly Illustration challenge:

http://illustrationfriday.com/index.php

I love the challenges I've listed in this blog because they don't demand a commitment from you... you're allowed to participate when inspiration strikes... and they aid that a little by giving you a "theme" to think about.

Etsy Shop Revamp

I have been working on revamping my etsy shop logo... here's the little squid so far... hopefully he's cute! Unfortunately he really is *little* in my etsy banner!!
