Whoa...

I guess when it snows I slow down!

Ok... so here is a pin that didn't quite work out like I hoped, it's supposed to be a little mouse like creature wearing a mushroom cap.

I have quite a few other projects underway that I hope to finish this weekend.

Until then though, here's that pin:

Under the Weather in Every Way Possible

I'm buried under snow and illness! The 'weather' is out to get me!

Anyhow, my lack of craftiness this week can be attributed to that fact.
However, I don't want to leave you with nothing!

So, I thought I'd share.

I am a fan of certain online comics, and one of my all time favorites is Lackadaisy Cats.

The artwork is beautiful and the characters are well developed and either adorably insane, appropriately mysterious, or understandably clueless :)

If for nothing else, go look at this for the BEAUTIFUL artwork:

(this is a detail of the picture at the bottom of this post)

(Oh, and this is about Prohibition... there is no nudity or anything such as that... it's just cute, in a Gangster kinda way)

Year of the Tiger!

As some of you may know, Valentines Day was also the Chinese New Year!!!

I found this image on DeviantArt, from the user HeWhoWalksWithTigers ... Please go check out his amazing photography, and why he does what he does! :)

Also, here are some of the interesting facts he posted as well:

Chinese Horoscope - The Tiger:

Years: 1902, 1914,1926,1938,1950,1962,1974, 1986, 1998, 2010

Famous Tigers: Sun Yat Sen, Queen Elizabeth II, Emily Dickinson, Isadora Duncan, Dwight D. Eisenhower, Marilyn Monroe, Marco Polo, Beatrix Potter, Karl Marx, Ludwig van Beethoven, Steve Irwin

Description: Tigers are fond of competitions. They simply cannot pass up a challenge. They may appear cool and are unpredictable, and it would be unwise to underestimate their reactions. Natural leaders, they have a strong sense of their own dignity. They are intelligent, alert, and farsighted. Good strategists and tacticians, they often have a hidden agenda. As long as they do not risk their luck too often, keep their restless nature under control, they will enjoy success and happiness.

People born in the Year of the Tiger are straightforward and uninhibited in nature. They will never give up no matter how frustrated they may become, but they are also full of suspicion and may sometimes make hasty decisions.

They must be aware of how they react to and are affected by the consequences of their tempers. They should take it easy and learn to pace themselves to keep active longer and to prevent early burnout. They are blessed with flexibility and often recover quickly from illness or pain.

Some people born in the Year of the Tiger are gentle and full of sympathy. They are kind, love babies. Others can be stubborn and selfish. Generally speaking, people born in the Year of the Tiger are fond of playing, and full of enthusiasm and sentiment. Some are mercurial. They can laugh happily one moment, and cry the next. They are be optimistic, but can lose heart in a second.

People born in the Year of the Tiger take pride in being different to others, and generally illustrate their originality best in their homes. Their homes are usually filled with exotic treasures. They are fast learners, need challenge and often work alone. Some tend to change careers more often because they get bored easily. They are natural born leaders and perform best if working towards positions of power and influence. They like to spend money, and also to share it. They can be quite impulsive spenders because they know they can always make more.

It is interesting that their two main features are rashness and hesitation, a pair of contradictions. If they know how to relax and do things according to the situation, they can become quite successful.

Tigers are incredibly sexy people, beautiful to most people and sensually romantic. They are spontaneous lovers who never lose their creative spark or flare for an evening of passion. They offer their partner a hint of danger and exhibit a curiosity for the unknown.

Reworking the Squid again...

Here's the most current version of my Little Squeed logo...

Monkey Queen of Switzerland

A long time ago I got a rather bizarre nickname... The Monkey Queen of Switzerland.

I was watching my small cousins, and reading a book... "The Sweet Potato Queens" something or another... and my little cousin came running up to me and asked "What does the book say, what does it say?!"

Well, at that exact second, the sentence I was reading said "Every Woman Should Be The Queen Of Something"... so I told my little cousin this, and she promptly asked, "What are you the Queen of?"

Without thinking, I replied, "Oh, I don't know, I'm The Monkey Queen of Switzerland"... the kids LOVED that... and a nickname was born.

I have to admit, I never cared much for monkey stuff before the nickname... but ever since I've had it (going on probably 7 years or so now), I've kept my eye out for monkey stuff.

Life is just strange that way.

Here is a picture of a Littlest Petshop Monkey that lives on my desk, I repainted it to be The Monkey Queen of Switzerland's mascot :)

Secret Admirerer...

FIRST! In honor of the blizzard that has so many of us buried under snow... I saw this idea on Peng Peng's blog and thought it was a GREAT idea... snow monsters! (What do you do? Take a picture of outside your house... then turn those looming white shapes into creatures!)

THEN this morning when I got to work I found this:

No note, no clues... nothing. It's awfully cute though... and I've never gotten Valentines related plants before... so I think I'll keep it around... plus I always wanted to get a bamboo plant for my desk :)

Speaking of my desk.... here is a little more of the madness that lies within:

The green blobby thing is a Butt Freckle. Yeah... you heard me... I stumbled across them on Etsy and their little staring eyes entranced me.

A recent purchase

Recently I purchased one of Moon's Creations New Years tigers because I'm in awe of people who can knit or crochet anything.

I've been trying, ooooh so hard.... to learn how to make a circle... but I just haven't gotten it... so those who can't do... purchase!

Here's the cute little guy... and staring at him on my desk every day only strengthens my resolve to learn how to do this!

Busy Week!

While my mailing address remains the same, my actual place of residence has changed! I have spent this last week moving and I am done!!!
Granted, there is still organizing to do... but all my junk is moved :)

I will post pictures of the new abode next week :)

Until then, despite the chaos, I did manage to make a new bear, my own miniature bear, who stands 3 inches tall!

There are certain things about the pattern that I am tweaking, so the next bear I have cut out will be slightly different... but overall, I kind of like this pattern!
